Heya,

Sorry for going so long without updating. Life has been hectic (trying to finish senior year of college). A LOT is going on heh (mostly good things).

I have a macbook now
I got into grad school (for physics - PhD)
I’m in the middle of learning two different languages for school (Java and LaTeX, well LaTeX isn’t really a language, but whatever).

School has been keeping me on my toes so I haven’t been able to update this extension. Well that’s a lie, I updated it to be compatible with the new firefox (3.0.*), but for some reason it’s not installing - strange errors…. I have a feeling I might not be creating the xpi properly on the mac, so I’m going to try to do it with in linux and windows - we’ll see what happens.

Email This! Update (Later Today)

Heya,

I’ve received a lot of emails (20 a day) saying that email this is not compatible with Forefox v3.0b3 - I know this. I mentioned in my last post it’s only compatible with v3.0b4PRE.

There is a big difference between v3.0b4PRE and v3.0b4

In lie of these emails, I will make email this compatible with the latest version, which is 3.0b4 by the end of today.

Email This! Version 2.1.4 Released

Aloha!

I got an email from firefox asking me to update my extension to the the newest beta release - 3.0bpre4. I’ve done just that (and I get a free t-shirt in return).

Version 2.1.4 (March 4, 2008)
1. Changed Firefox MaxVersion to 3.0bpre4.

The extension is now live on the Mozilla servers as well as the Lazyrussian Servers.

GMail This! error has been fixed and uploaded (v2.1.3)

Hey everyone!

I fixed the annoying new error with gmail that caused the new tab to freeze on the ‘loading’ screen while trying to load the compose page.

Version 2.1.3 (January 11, 2008)
1. Fixed an error with Gmail that froze the extension on the “Loading” screen
2. Changed MaxVersion to 3.0b3.

~~As of this moment, the new version is queued on Mozilla’s servers. They have not yet processed my request to update the extension, but this should change soon.~~
The extension is now available on the Lazyrussian & Mozilla Servers!

And another new problem arises (with Gmail This)

So, as of today, the Gmail This! extension doesn’t work. When you click the button, a new tab opens, but it freezes on the Gmail Loading screen. I’m looking into it but I have no idea what could be wrong.

BAH! WHY DOES CHANGE OCCUR??? (this is a rhetorical and sarcastic question, please do not respond :p)

Email This! coming to SongBird!

First off, HAPPY NEW YEARS from everyone at Lazyrussian (Me, Myself, I and Boris). Ok, ok, their is no Boris….lol.

Second, the people over at songbird (http://www.songbirdnest.com) have asked me to port my extension to their interface. For those of you who don’t know what Songbird is, it’s a cross-platform piece of software that mashes a media player and internet browser together - sort of like combining iTunes and Firefox into one program.

Anyway, apparently the songbird developers and songbird community has voted my extension is one of the “Top 40 Most Desirable Extensions”. - SWEET!

Alright, the next update I make (hopefully soon) should be when I successfully complete porting this extension over to songbird.

Ya, that’s right, Email This! v2.1.3 should have songbird support!

YahooThis! Works Again!

I received an email today informing me that Email This! for Yahoo works again. My initial assumptions were right. It was a problem that only Yahoo could fix. I’m glad to hear it’s working again.

I double checked it myself to make sure - everything is fine

It has come to my attention that there is noan issue with YahooThis! compatibility with the Yahoo Online Mail Client. A new compose page still oepns up but the subject line and body of the new email are not filled in with the appropriate information.

I’ll try to fix this problem as soon as I can but I am currently in the middle of finals (for the next 14 days), so I don’t have too much time.

Sorry for the inconvenience (blame Yahoo).

Definr - Best Online Dictionary Out There!

There are a lot of Web 2.0 applications out there, but Definr became one of my favorites last week because I had to take the GREs…

Anyway, Definr prides itself on being the fastest online search engine, finding words and definitions as you type. A firefox extension is also available, allowing you to perform lightning fast searches from any web-page.

This nifty website saved my *** while I was studying for the verbal portion of the GREs. They provided me with an additional 5-10 words per definition (synonyms). I probably saved a whole second every time I used definr (instead of dictionary.com) for a search! (AWESOME)

Downside: Only 2 of the ~1000 words I memorized showed up. (That’s more of a personal downside. There’s no real downside for a website - it’s the simplest website I’ve ever come across)

I still have to figure out how to use words like lugubrious, salubrious, and aver.

Email This! Version 2.1.2 Released (eMusic Update)

An Email This! user asked me to make this extension compatible with eMusic, an online music subscription service that incorporates Mozilla (XUL) technology in their application (That’s how this extension is compatible with their software).

Quick excerpt about eMusic from wikipedia:

EMusic is an online music store that operates by subscription. It is headquartered in New York, New York, and owned by Dimensional Associates, LLC. As of March 2007 eMusic has over 250,000 subscribers, which makes it the largest subscription-based online music store.[1]

EMusic differs from other well-known subscription music services (such as Napster and Rhapsody) in that the files available for download are in the MP3 format, making them fully compatible with all digital music players, and free from digital rights management software restrictions such as expiration dates, or copying or CD burning limitations.
